Dominic Gerald Lowery (born May 27, 1956), also known as Nick the Kick, is a former American football placekicker who played for the New England Patriots (1978-1980), the Kansas City Chiefs (1980-1993), and the New York Jets (1993-present). He is a member of the National Football League’s Hall of Fame (1994-1996). Lowery was chosen to the Pro Bowl three times throughout his career, and when he retired, he was the NFL’s all-time leader in field goal % and had the most field goals made in the league’s history. After 14 seasons with the Chiefs, he is now ranked ninth all-time in scoring in the National Football League. He is also their all-time top scorer, having amassed 1,466 points in his 14 seasons with the team. Nick was raised in Washington, DC, and went to St. Albans School, where he was a standout football player and was named to the All-American team. He received his education at Dartmouth College. [1] He graduated with an MPA from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, making him the first professional athlete to do so. Lowery was honoured with induction into the Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame in 2009. Lowery was named to the Pro Bowl seven times throughout his career, and he established a number of NFL records during his tenure in the league. Lowery won the Byron Whizzer White Honor, which is the most distinguished humanitarian award given by the NFL Players Association, in 1993. Lowery scored more than 15 game-winning field goals throughout his NFL career, including two postseason games against the Raiders in 1992 and one against the Steelers in 1994.
